Are we finally ready to face the consequences of our color biases..now that we see that the impact is on ALL people without regard to skin color??!!

No matter what you call it - white fragility, implicit bias, etc, etc - one event after another calls us to task for historical preferences that favor whites over people of color. With the horrific attack on the Capitol this past week, we see the pattern once again. Why is it that an onslaught led by whites was handled with such a relatively light touch compared to the events surrounding the BLM movement? Perhaps we can learn that failing to address these deep-seated biases and allowing these patterns to continue has dire consequences for each and every one of us, without regard to skin color. Am I hopeful? Yes. I admit to having had many moments of deep despair, but overriding it all is my absolute confidence in this country. We can do it. We just have to keep up the pressure and the focus. We can't shove it aside because it's uncomfortable and unpleasant.
