11/6: UPDATE ON CITY COUNCIL RACE. STILL CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC. NO CHANGE IN OFFICIAL NUMBERS.
From prior page: An updated report from the Registrar of Voters is expected this weekend. It definitely looks like I'm in. I've got 30.53% of the vote, which puts me in the lead. From what I can tell (it's a bit of a mystery), the results reflect votes from about 80% of registered voters in the City of Sebastopol (you can ignore the "100%" number in the image below...it's complicated...but take my word on this).
The congratulations are rolling in. I'm so grateful for all the support and excitement, although with some votes still to be counted, I can't embrace it totally (there are some mail-in ballots still to be processed). But I'm a newbie at all of this, and those in the know tell me it's time to celebrate. So, I'm celebrating...kind of...but not completely.... (I'm SO conflicted!) When pressed, though, I do admit to a sense of confidence (which does feel good!).
In the midst of all these conjectures about the results for me, we can't lose track of the fact that there are two seats open on the City Council. Who will be joining me (assuming I keep my lead)? Will it be Evert Fernandez or Neysa Hinton? That remains to be seen. Neysa is ahead so far, but only by 19 votes. Those yet-to-be-counted mail-in ballots could make a huge difference.
What a race!!
And don't get me started on the presidential and US Senate races - talk about nail biters!!!
